Super easy Anthro ispired watch tutorial

What you need:
Scraps of fabric ( you don't need a whole lot, mine were 2 5"x12". I used my favorite moda vintage looking scraps)
An old watch( if you want to tell the time It needs to work:) )
2 jump rings ( if our watch is like mine and only had holes for the band) You can get these at Wal-Mart if you dont already have them

Start by disassembling your watch, add a jump ring at the top and bottom
Now rip your fabric, you need 3 pieces all the same length. There is no rules for this, just make sure it will fit around your wrist, if its too long that's OK, you can cut it later.
Weave 1 piece through the jump rings, making sure it goes UNDER the face of the watch.
Tie another piece of fabric just under the face, and braid until you have just a small amount of your added fabric left.
Tie your 2 ends. TIGHT. Then cut of extra fabric of the added fabric, you should have a tail, of your long one that is the main piece.( does this make sense?)

Repeat on opposite side. If your tail is too long you can trim that now. Just snip a small part and rip the rest for a nice frayed look.
Tie your ends together and your done!

Adventures in Potty Training

One of my New Years resolutions was to get P#3 off of bottles (yes I know, I kept making excuses of to why he was still having them). That was actually alot easier than I thought it would have been. The other was to have him potty trained by his second birthday.
I can dream cant I?
It has been fun so far, were not pushing it too much, just taking him in every so often, and he just sits there and points at the potty and says "ELMO!" He has gone before a couple of times, but the chair is new so he thinks its funny! Lets hope he will at least be trained before he's 2 1/2.
That's more reasonable.(?) Please dont mind the mess, it's the kids bathroom

I miss my sisters

Here are my thoughts for today..

1.) As I'm helping my older sister Carmen plan her wedding, we are so caught up in the colors, the what-to-do's, the flowers, all the small details that go into planning such a wonderful day, that I just today started thinking how utterly fantastic it's going to be just to see her, to walk off the airplane and just hug her. Have my kids hug her.
We grew up best friends, we always slept in the same bed, shared clothes, make-up, and even boyfriends. We lived our childhood together, everything she did, I did, and vise-versa.

2.) That it has been 5 years that I've seen her. She has only meet Paige once and she was 4 months old. She has never seen Parker who will be 2 1/2 by the time we get there, and It's been 6 years since Preston has seen her. I'm so excited for them to meet their Aunt, and enjoy her laughter & sunshine as I always have.
We also have a little sister, Courtney. I have seen her in the past year, and even though we live in the same state, its still a 5 hour drive, so we don't visit all that often. It has been 6 years since Carmen has seen her. And then there is Lindsey, who is not our "real" sister, but our cousin, she came in the line up between Courtney and I, we are all exactly a year apart. She has always been a sister to us. She now lives in Hawaii with her husband and my 2 nephews. We were pregnant together with our youngest boys and shared everything via phone calls. The last I saw her was at her baby shower over 2 years ago. I have never meet Kingston as she's never meet Parker. And Carmen hasn't seen her in 6 years so she's never meet either of her boys.
Us 4 have been through almost everything together. Our bond is unbreakable. No matter how many miles separate us all, we are always in each other lives & thoughts.
3.) That if everyone of us can make it to the wedding, what a happy day that will be! Not only will my best friend be marrying a great man, and starting her new life, but that us 4 sisters will all be together sharing that moment. I love each and everyone of you with all my heart.

Patchwork DS Organizer Tutorial

Items needed:
Scraps and/or fat quarters( I used half a tea towel and 4 fat quarters, w/ plenty left over)
3" of 1/4" elastic
Rope elastic or hair tie
sewing machine
matching thread
rotary cutter
button

You will need on piece of solid fabric for the outside and inside measuring 14"x9"
Now get out your scraps, or just cut some odd shapes out of cute printed fabric, you don't need a whole lot for this part.Sew them to the outside piece using this method.
It should turn out something like this:

Now for the inside.Fold main piece in half hamburger style, press so you know where your center is. Cut a pocket piece 8 1/2"x6". fold and press in 1/4" all the way around, then another 1/2" on the top, press.
Sew along the top only
find the center of the pocket and pin so you know where it is. Then from 1/2" from your center pin, tuck fabric under to center to create a pleat, repeat on other side. Pin pleats. Pin pocket to the bottom right of fabric, 1/2" from center marking.
Sew along the sides and bottom, be sure to back stitch at top. It should be big enough to fit the DS inside.
Cut a piece of your 1/4" elastic 3". Pin to fabric above the pocket. Sew at 3/8" all the way down.
Now for the other side. Cut 3 pockets 6 1/2"x 2 1/2. Turn and press 1/4" all the way around, then another 1/4" at the top. Sew top. Pin pockets to the right side of main fabric. 1/4" apart. Sew along sides and bottom. Backstitch top. Now run a long stitch all the way down the 3 pockets at
1 7/8" apart.

This pocket is optional, I wanted something for the earphones too.
Cut another pocket 9"x6". Do the exact same thing as you did with the big one. Pin then sew 1/4" up from small long pockets
Pin your elastic to the left side of your outer fabric, and sew the button on the right side at the same spot(you want the to match up once its folded)
Lay right sides together, sew 1/4" around the whole thing, leaving room for turning. Clip corners. Turn, then topstitch opening closed and finish around the whole thing.
And your done!! Hopefully now things wont be lost.

If you have any questions or it just doesn't make sense, let me know!

A Holly Jolly Christmas

We had such a great day, and weekend. The kiddos were up at 4:15, and presents were all opened by 4:45! All the anticipation of that morning and it was gone so fast. But the kids loved all their gifts and had so much fun.

We rocked out on the Wii, played some board games, read books, watched movies, visited with Family and ate some great food. A long but great weekend.
