What a week..

Its been quite a busy week around here.

The hubs and I anniversary is this Sunday. I had been racking my brain on what I could get a man who has all the tools he's wants, is so NOT into electronics, and wears t-shirt and jeans everywhere. On last Sunday, after the Superbowl we were heading home and he says, "You know, I really miss having bon fires, we used to that every weekend, too bad you can't burn here." The next day I called our local fire dpt. and they say you can burn, and that as long as its not tumbleweeds, "have fun!" I went down to Wal-mart and bought a fire pit, stopped at a job site and asked If we could have the scrap wood and went home and set it up. He was SO VERY excited! I'm proud of myself for thinking of something he was not expecting.

We made some cute Valentines:

I've been working on My Sisters wedding stuff (kinda a spoiler so I didn't post the whole thing cause she would probly kill me!) I did the label and e-mailed it to her, she did the rest and did an awesome job!:

P#2 made the star student this week. Monday we had to make a book all about her, Tuesday she had to bring her favorite book to read to the class, Thursday was Show and Tell, she wanted Titan and her brother to come in, so we spent some time in her class yesterday during her V-day party.Today she will be receiving an award for honesty from the principle. I willpost pics on that!!!

I've been cleaning and preparing for our visitors this weekend.

And I had wisdom teeth pulled.

I will leave you with some cute pics of P#3 eating lunch. Just cause he's so darn cute!
{ look cute}

    {carefull,its hot}

{be sure to laugh}

{use 2 spoons}

{and take huge bites}

Hope you all enjoy your weekend. Filled with lots of LOVE.

What was that Mr. Punxsutawney Phil?

6 more weeks of winter?  I call foul!
First let me tell you about where we live, it's in Washington State.You know the green, gray, soggy part of the Pacific Northwest?
Wrong!
We live in the eastern portion,which alot of people dont realize is actually a desert.We have extreme summers that are terribly hot, ridiculously cold winters, and beautiful sunshine 320 days out of the year.
This winter has been so mild and wet, not the norm.It is still usually in the 20's here this time of year.But so far since 2010 it's been in the mid 50's with lots of rain.I dont mind since I grew up in the Seattle area and love the rain.
But here's my problem:
This is what my yard looks like in May, the grass starts turn back green and everything that lay dormant through the winter starts to bloom in April.

 Its only mid February and my plants are starting to bloom, and my grass is starting to turn green, and our irigation doesn't even come on until April! While I'm excited thats its great outside and somewhat warm, I'm not fooled that it wont freeze again. It happened last year in April and I lost half my crops.This is just craziness!

Here are some of my Lillies coming up from the earth.

Lets hope that my beauties stay strong!

From sheet to chic in 30 min. JCrew inspired tank

This color is SO dreamy, My sister bought it and I fell in love. I knew I could do something like it, I just wish I had the same color. DARN.
{JCrew}
You will be starting with an old jersey sheet. If you dont have any Wal-mart carries them in tons of colors and are around 7$ for a flat sheet.Which is not bad cause I still have a ton of mine left over.Or just go to your local fabric store and buy some jersey, whatever works for you:) And it should  only take about 30 minutes!!

Cut off the top part of the sheet, being carefull not to cut the serged edge.
( This is the part that is already folded over, and is usually about 2")
Then I used an old tank for a pattern and cut around, leaving about 1/2 an inch on both sides for a seam allowance.
Pin your shoulders
Open the top part and cut one side of the neckline slighlty lower.
fold back over
Sew your shoulders together. If your shoulder is too wide you can gather them.
Sew a seam starting under the arm hole and going all the way down. Now your shirt is assembled.Turn right side out. You can finish your edges, but I just left mine raw.
Take your long strip and at your machine set the tension as high as it will go, and select your longest stitch length. It should atomatically ruffle for you. Best part: no string pulling:)
Pretty,huh?
Now pin the ruffle on the shirt, Starting in 1corner, then doing a figure 8 on the side and right up under against the top ruffle.
Sew down the center of ruffle and foloow the whole thing from one end to the other, backstitching at both ends.
 And your DONE!!
 Super easy and pretty. Isn't it crazy how poor the lighting is inside the house, the fabric looked grey.

Hair bow holder tutorial {kinda}

This morning as I'm getting P #2 ready for school, she wants me to put a pretty bow in her hair. I ask her to go pick it out and bring it out to me. She comes back empty handed:"I can't find the one I want". Well if you know miss P she is THEE most unorganized child EVER! So were searching through Barbies, jewelry boxes, shoes even, and I've had enough. She has 2 "hair boxes" 1 for clippies, and the other for hair bands. But she wont keep them in there. I decided to make her something cute that is at her eye level so she always(hopefully) knows where they are. There are many great tutorials out there for this sort of thing, HERE,HERE and HERE, but I thought I'd share how I made mine.

This is what it will look like After you've made it but before the clip are on. It took about 30 minutes and used whatever I had on hand.
What you need:
Frame in whatever size you feel is necessary
Ribbon, Ribbon and more ribbon
Embellishments if you want
Staple gun
spray paint
sanding paper
Start with a plain wood frame from the dollar store
Spray paint it in the color of your liking. I used Krylon in Watermelon.
(I ♥ this color)
Once dry give it a nice sanding all over
Turn right side down and begin stapling your ribbon on the top.Then pull ribbon tightly and staple at the bottom.
For the hanger I used a thin silky type of ribbon, made a bow on 1 side, left enough to hang with and tied a bow on the other side. I secured the bow with a hot glue gun and added a button over the knot.

Now cut off any excess ribbon, embellish how ever you like, and hang it up!
Don't forget to add your hair pretties
This was a brief one so if you have any questions just ask!!You can also find Tutorials on how to make Hair accessories here:

My,what pretty hair you have!

If you have a little girl who likes having her hair done, then you must check out The Story of a Princess and Her Hair. I found It on Ucreate a few weeks(?) ago and have been wanting to do P#2's hair, but our mornings have been pretty busy. But today, she sat nicely and enjoyed. All you need is to know how to braid. I loved all their ideas! She then asked if I would take more pictures of her:) Goofy girl loves attention and being phographed! What can I say, she is beautiful!

(laughing at something)

Happy Thurdsay

Mod Podge 3 frame how-to

My girlfriend bought one similar from a fundraiser through her daughters school, and I loved it! Only the fundraiser was far over and she also payed 20$ for it. So I went home looked through my stuff, and I had everything to make it, except for the frames, which I got at the dollar store. If you have everything on hand it makes a great addition or even a great gift.It can be personalized,and as fancy as you want or plain like mine. I want to do another for P#2's room, with flowers and pretty embellishments.

Here's what you need to make your own:
3 frames ( or more or less if you like)
Ribbon (I found mine at the thrift store, for 10 cents)Roughly about 2 yards
Mod Podge
Paint in whatever color you want the border of the frame to be. Or none at all
paint brushes; 1 for paint, a foam one for Mod Podge
Scrapbook paper of your choice
embellishments if you want
scissors
sander of some sort
glue or staple gun

First paint just the border and outside border of the frame. Its OK if its not perfect.I then dipped my paint brush in water and wiped all the way around. It help even out the paint and makes it alittle easier to sand later.
Let dry. Then take your sander( I used a sanding file, you can get these in the scrapbook department for sanding chipboard) and lightly go over the edges you just painted. There is no wrong or right way, I like mine to look completely imperfect.
Next, disassemble your frame and lay it right side down on top of your paper and trace the outside and inside if the frame part.
Cut it out. And for the outside, cut about 1/8" more.
I distressed my paper
I just took a brush and wiped the ink on. You can do this how ever you like:)
Put a heavy coat of Mod Podge all over the frame, except on the outer edges where you painted.
Apply your paper, and smooth out any bubbles.Do these steps on all 3.
Reassemble your frames and add your pictures. Then, upside down, line them up exactly how you want them. Mine were 1" apart.
Using your glue or staple gun, apply the ribbon starting at the bottom of one side. Work your way up, securing the ribbon at the top and bottom of each frame Once at the top, leave enough for it to hand, then continue down the other side.
It should look like this. Let the glue dry completely.Cut your ends that are hanging off
And Ta-Da! Your done!

If any of you make this I would love to see how yours turned out!
